Dog Chocolate Poisoning

Once, on easter, my dog ate my chocolate rabbit. I was pissed, understandably, but it was my fault for leaving the chocolate on the floor. Chocolate is poisonous to dogs in sufficient quantities, however, and so I was thinking about how dangerous that chocolate bunny could have been to her.

http://www.dogownersdigest.com/news/library/chocolate-dog-poisoning.shtml
"Chocolate contains theobromine. A naturally occurring stimulant found in the cocoa bean, theobromine increases urination and affects the central nervous system as well as heart muscle. While amounts vary by type of chocolate, it's the theobromine that is poisonous to dogs."

It can cause:
Hyper excitability
Hyper irritability
Increased heart rate
Restlessness
Increased urination
Muscle tremors
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Possibly death

Each different kind of chocolate has a different amount of theobromine.
All numbers are mg per ounce.
White chocolate: 1 mg
hot chocolate: 12 mg
milk chocolate: 60 mg
semi-sweet chocolate: 260 mg
Baking Chocolate: 450 mg

The chocolate bunny falls under the milk chocolate category so she could probably eaten about 25 ounces of milk chocolate before it become truly toxic. I don't doubt that it gave her digestive issues. She used to have a very sensity stomach. I'm not sure how many ounces the bunny was, but it wasn't too small. I imagine it was probably less than that. 6 maybe?

NBC or Fox?

http://www.nbc.com/nbc/header/TV_Schedule/
So, instead of showing a new "My Name is Earl" NBC decided to push the show back by 30 minutes and reshow the pilot. They also decided to cut out at least half of the good jokes and otherwise chop it up so the timing was all off. I have no idea why. You'd think they were fox trying to kill off a good series or something. NBC still says there's a new episode next week. Maybe there was an hour special on one of the shows before it (the biggest loser maybe?). It was kind of convenient for me actually, because the software for my new tv capture card on my computer decided to cop out while recording so I wouldn't have seen it if they showed the new episode at its regular time anyway. Maybe I just have good karma? Hopefully this isn't a bad sign and My Name is Earl won't be another Firefly. I didn't hear about Firefly until recently, but I have seen many of the episodes and I enjoy it immensely. Too bad Fox butchered it's showing and then cancelled it. Maybe it will start again because of the movie.

Fun Beer Facts for the day

Beer is high in fiber. Beer has many vitamins(all the B vitamins), but alcohol interferes with absorption of some vitamins and destroys complex b vitamins and C vitamins. Taking C and E vitamins may help to prevent a hang or recover from one(I think the E helps the C in some way). Many beers filter out the vitamin B in brewing anyway. Some legislation was passed in Scotland to add extra B(thiamine) vitamins to Beer in order to combat the health problems caused by excessive alcohol consumption.

Miller Brewing brews all , or most, Pabst Brewing beers by contract.

Miller "was acquired by South African Breweries from Philip Morris (now Altria on May 30, 2002, to form SABMiller for $3.6 billion worth of stock and $2 billion in debt, with Philip Morris retaining a 36% share, with voting rights of 24.99%."

Altria is a scary large company, but SABMiller is a little less forboding. They are the second largest brewer in the world under....wait for it...InBev. Thought it was Annheiser-Busch? That's probably because you're American. A-B is merely third. InBev is considerably more global. Ironically, Budweiser is brewed by the Labatt(one of InBev's "local" brews) breweries in Canada. I don't know how much Budweiser Canadians drink...

"Altria Group, Inc. NYSE: MO (previously named Philip Morris Companies Inc.) is one of the world's largest food, beverage, and tobacco corporations and a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average." The Altria group owns the Marlboro brand,Parliament, Virginia Slims, Kraft Foods,Kool-Aid, Boca Burger, Lenders Bagels, Maxwell House, Miracle Whip, Oscar Mayer meats, Post Cereals, Philadelphia cream cheese, Shake n Bake, Splenda, Vegemite, and others. Nice to know who you're buying your products from...

The Sun is so very generous

It just occurred the me that the Sun is the most generous thing in the entire universe. It gives great amounts of energy, day in and day out, and never takes anything back in. Of course, it could be argued that that's the nature of giant burning balls of gas. Ask anyone with IBS and they'll probably tell you that gas they are the gifts that keep on giving. For the moment, I can't seem to think of anything in the Galaxy like that. Sure the Sun will probably be a black whole one day which is probably the least generous thing in the universe by nature, but that's a long way off.

Moving on..
I had an idea for a short or series of shorts. They can be called "Giving Birth". Every day life through the view of a woman giving birth. Stuff like work and traffic with the view of two spread legs and a woman screaming and bleeting through tears of pain. One short might be enough.

It's natural that I feel the desire to blog right now as I have just started doing some actual homework and I'm very tired and need to sleep.

Television

I've been watching a little tv lately. I like to watch Everybody Hates Chris, My Name is Earl, and Veronica Mars. Kevin Smith was on Veronica Mars last night. He's making a Clerk's 2.

I've been trying to catch up on my homework, but not doing so well. I will most likely post some more CG videos that I've been doing. They're all pretty simple so far, because I'm not doing very well on my homework.

Indigo Prophecy looks like a good, new game, that's come out.

Been drinking PBR. Anyone suggest a good, cheap beer? I know that's kind of an oxymoron, but it doesn't hurt to ask.

I'm thinking about getting a moped or some other relatively small engine motor bike. Need to get a job first though. I figure that I should make up the difference in gas costs within a year or two, if I get a motor bike. Most of my money goes to buy gasoline.
